  1. OVERVIEW

Sleep Tracker Clean & Fast ("the App", "we", "us") is an offline-first sleep tracking app. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, stored, and shared, and your choices.

Summary: By default, all your sleep data and audio recordings stay only on your device. Nothing is uploaded to our servers - we do not even operate an account server. Optional cloud backup to your own Google Drive is entirely under your control.

  1. DATA WE COLLECT AND STORE ON YOUR DEVICE

The App functions without an account. The following data is stored locally on your device using Android SharedPreferences / app-private files, and is never sent to us:

a) Sleep tracking data (created by you):

  • Bedtime / wake time, alarm settings, reminder preference

  • Night records: date, time in bed, time asleep, sleep score, sleep stages (deep / light estimates), snoring frequency, detected events (snoring, dream talk, coughing, movement)

  • Sleep notes, mood tags (e.g. Coffee, Stress, Exercise), journal

b) Audio data (only when you tap "Sleep Now"):

  • Overnight audio recording (AAC/M4A) saved to app-private storage

  • Short event clips metadata (time, kind, duration, dB peaks, waveform peaks) pointing to the overnight file

  • Live loudness levels (dB) processed in real time on-device

The microphone is ONLY accessed during active overnight tracking after you grant RECORD_AUDIO permission and tap Sleep Now. We do not record in the background at other times.

c) Onboarding / preferences (optional, provided by you):

  • Goals, sounds of interest, causes, typical night, sleep latency

  • Age and gender (optional, "I'd rather not tell" supported)

  • Sound mixes you create, TTS pace, sensitivity, challenge progress, spirit animal result, PRO unlock flag / promo state

d) Diagnostics / settings:

  • Permission states (microphone, notifications, battery optimization, exact alarms), reminder on/off, language choice

We do NOT collect: name, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or browsing history. We run NO advertising SDK and NO analytics SDK (no Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Facebook SDK).

  1. PERMISSIONS WE REQUEST AND WHY

Android permissions requested in-app (all optional except where noted):

  • RECORD_AUDIO (Microphone) - REQUIRED for sleep sound detection. Used only during overnight tracking. Denying it disables recording; you can still use sounds, stats demo, and reminders.

  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS - Bedtime reminders (30 min before bed) and morning report notification. Local only, no push server.

  • SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM / USE_EXACT_ALARM (Android 12+, optional) - Sharper smart-alarm timing if you enable it. Default reminder uses inexact allow-while-idle and does not need this.

  • REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS - Keeps overnight recording from being killed by the system. You are guided to allow background activity; you may decline.

  • Storage / Files (via system File Picker + Share sheet only) - Used only when YOU choose Export / Import backup (JSON) or share a night clip. No broad storage access.

  • INTERNET - Only used for: (1) optional Google Drive backup, (2) Google Play Billing product query / purchase, (3) Google Fonts one-time download (cached), (4) Home widget refresh. Core tracking and sounds work fully offline.

You can revoke any permission anytime in Android Settings > Apps > Sleep Tracker > Permissions. The App degrades gracefully.

  1. OPTIONAL GOOGLE DRIVE BACKUP

If and only if you tap Backup > Google Drive:

  • You sign in with Google (Google Sign-In). We see your Google account email to show "Drive - email@example.com" and sign-out.

  • Backup JSON (nights, clips metadata, mixes, settings listed in Section 2) is uploaded to your own hidden appDataFolder (Drive scope: drive.appdata). It is invisible to other apps and to other Drive users.

  • Download restores that JSON to your device.

Google handles authentication and storage under Google's Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) and Google API Services User Data Policy. We never see your Drive password, and we store no Drive copy on our own servers. Sign out in-app to disconnect. Delete Drive files anytime at drive.google.com > Settings > Manage apps.

Audio .m4a recordings are NOT uploaded to Drive - only the JSON metadata / settings file is. Full audio stays on the phone.

  1. IN-APP PURCHASES (Sleep PRO)

PRO (monthly / yearly) is sold via Google Play Billing (product IDs: sleep_pro_monthly, sleep_pro_yearly).

  • Payment is processed entirely by Google Play. We do NOT collect, see, or store your credit card, billing address, or full purchase credentials.

  • Google shares with the App only: product ID, purchase / restore status, and order token needed to unlock PRO locally.

  • A promo-code redeem path exists for testing; codes are checked on-device, not sent to a server.

Manage / cancel subscriptions in Play Store > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions. Restore via Me > Restore purchases.

  1. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The App uses only these third parties, each under its own policy:

  • Google Play Billing - purchase processing. https://policies.google.com/privacy

  • Google Sign-In + Google Drive API (optional) - backup only. https://policies.google.com/privacy Limited-use disclosure: use of Drive scope complies with Google API Services User Data Policy, including Limited Use requirements. Drive data is used solely for user-requested backup/restore.

  • Google Fonts - downloadable fonts, cached on device. https://policies.google.com/privacy

  • Android system: Text-to-Speech (bedtime stories narration), Notifications, Home widgets, Share sheet, File picker. Audio narration is synthesized on-device where supported.

No data broker, ad network, or analytics company receives your data from us.

  1. HOW WE USE DATA

Local data is used solely to:

  • track nights, compute scores / stages / trends, play clips

  • fire bedtime reminders and smart alarm

  • show statistics, journal, streaks, challenge, Lumi tips

  • mix / play sleep sounds with sleep timer

  • export / import / Drive backup on your request

  • unlock PRO features you purchased

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade personal data. We do NOT use microphone audio for advertising, profiling, or voice identification.

  1. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION

  • Retention: Local data is kept on your device until YOU delete it. Uninstalling the App deletes app-private recordings and prefs (unless you exported a backup elsewhere).

  • In-app delete: Delete individual nights / clips in Statistics > Journal (swipe / delete where offered), or Clear app data in Android Settings.

  • Drive backup: Delete at drive.google.com or overwrite with a new upload. Signing out does not auto-delete prior Drive files - delete them manually if desired.

  • Account deletion: There is no server account to delete. Email us at automotives.apex@gmail.com for help; for Drive / Billing copies, follow Google's deletion flows above.

To exercise access / export: Me > Export backup (JSON) anytime.

  1. SECURITY

  • On-device: app-private sandbox, no cleartext network transmission of sleep/audio data (Drive upload uses HTTPS / Google TLS).

  • No transmission to developer servers exists to breach.

  • No method is 100% secure - protect your device with lock screen and OS updates, and avoid sharing exported JSON publicly (it contains your sleep history).

  1. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect children's data. If you believe a child provided data, delete app data and contact us at automotives.apex@gmail.com for guidance.

  1. HEALTH DISCLAIMER (NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE)

Sleep scores, stages, snoring analysis, and apnea-risk estimates are wellness / self-awareness information only, based on microphone amplitude heuristics. They are NOT a medical diagnosis, treatment, or substitute for professional care. Consult a qualified clinician for snoring, apnea, insomnia, or other health concerns.

  1. YOUR RIGHTS (GDPR / CCPA / INTERNATIONAL)

Depending on your region you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object, or delete personal data, and to withdraw consent (e.g. mic, notifications). Because processing is on-device, you can directly exercise most rights in-app / in OS settings (Sections 3, 8). Contact automotives.apex@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California: We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by CCPA/CPRA. No sale opt-out is therefore required.

Legal basis (EEA/UK): consent (mic, notifications, Drive backup), contract (PRO purchase / backup you request), legitimate interest (core offline tracking you initiate by tapping Sleep Now).

  1. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

By default there are no transfers - data stays on your phone. If you enable Drive backup or PRO purchase, Google may process data on its global infrastructure under its own safeguards and policies.

  1. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We will post updates on this page and update the Effective Date above. Material changes will also be noted in Play Store release notes and/or in-app where appropriate. Continued use after changes means acceptance.
