Overview EQ Coach ("the app") is a bilingual emotional-intelligence practice app. It is private by design: your entries stay on your device. There is no account, no login, no ads, no analytics SDK, and no crash-report upload. We do not run a server that receives your data.
Data we do NOT collect
We do not collect, transmit, store on a server, sell, or share your personal data.
We do not require your name, email, phone number, or precise location.
We do not track you across apps or websites.
Data stored ONLY on your device Everything below is stored locally on your device (local SQLite database
app preferences) and never sent to us:
Emotion check-ins (emotion, intensity 1-5, optional note, date)
Lesson progress and quiz scores
Scenario practice attempts
Evening EQ log entries, stress checks, mood journal entries
Meditation progress and favorites, phrasebook favorites and reuse counts
Reply-pattern attempts, CBT thought records, course / drill / assessment progress
Weekly goals, pause wins, cool-down episodes, challenge start date
Settings: language mode, theme, reminder time, online-photos toggle, onboarding flags, notification ID state
Logs contain no personal identifiers. Debug logs never include your notes.
When the network is used The app works fully offline, except for two optional system fetches: a) Relax gallery (optional): if "Online photos" is ON (default ON, can be turned OFF in Settings), the gallery loads nature photos from Lorem Picsum (picsum.photos). Like any image load, the image server can see your IP address and request headers. Turn the toggle OFF for fully offline mode with local art. b) Fonts (automatic): the interface font (Inter / Noto Sans SC via the google_fonts package) may be fetched once from Google Fonts servers on first use, per Google's privacy terms. After caching, no further fetch is needed.
No other feature uses the network. AI coach features are disabled in this version and make no network calls.
Permissions
Notifications (optional, Android 13+ asks at toggle time): used only for local daily / midday reminders scheduled on your device. Denying keeps reminders off; nothing is uploaded.
Internet: used only for (4a) and (4b) above.
Files / sharing (only when you tap it): Export creates a JSON backup file you choose; Import reads a file you choose; Share sends plain text you approve through the system share sheet. Anyone holding an exported backup file can read it — keep it safe.
Backup, sharing, deletion
Export / Import: manual, user-initiated. Import replaces local data only after your confirmation. Corrupt files are rejected without changing data.
Sharing (weekly report / progress): sends only the summary text you confirm, to the app you pick. Nothing is sent automatically.
Deletion: Settings > Reset clears the local database and preferences on your device and cancels local reminders. Uninstalling the app also removes local data. Exported backup files you saved elsewhere must be deleted by you.
Children The app has no chat, no social feed, and no user-generated public content. It is rated for general audiences and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Health note EQ Coach teaches skills for self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and communication. It is not therapy, makes no medical claims, and never diagnoses. Heavy-feeling content shows a gentle note suggesting you talk to someone you trust or a professional.
Changes If the app changes (e.g. a future optional cloud feature), this policy will be updated with a new effective date before the feature ships. The version posted at the published URL always applies.
